The Israelites kept falling away from God for a variety of reasons. One reason was their tendency to be influenced by the surrounding cultures and their gods, leading them to worship idols and engage in practices that were contrary to God's commands. Finally, the Israelites struggled with obedience and faithfulness, often turning away from God's laws and pursuing their own desires. These factors contributed to a cycle of disobedience and repentance throughout the history of the Israelites. **
